Travels
I currently write this blog update whilst waiting for the first plane of many I’ll be sitting on over the next week!
I’m delighted to be partnering Big Evs over at the Breeders Cup in the Juvenile Turf Sprint for the Mick Appleby team, he’s been an absolute star for the yard this year and we’re all hoping he can end his year in a similar fashion. We’ve been handed a great draw in 4, and his trademark gate speed will need to be utilised to best effect when taking on the American speedsters!
After riding at Santa Anita Hollie and I will then be flying directly to Melbourne where we’ll both be riding on Melbourne Cup day, and whilst sadly I haven’t managed to secure a Cup ride, Hollie has picked up the ride aboard Future History for Peter Trainor, Ciaron Maher and David Eustace. Having won the Bart Cummings a couple of weeks ago, and running great at Moonee Valley last week he looks to have a real shot off 50kg in the race that stops a nation. I’m also super happy to be able to have finally got Hollie to get down to Australia after it has been such a big part of my life for the last several years, I’m sure she’s going to enjoy it as much as I do!
We’ll then swiftly be moving on to Japan the following morning where we will start our 2-month riding stint on 11th November, it’s a trip that was both successful and enjoyable last year, and we’re both feeling extremely honoured to have been granted our licenses again by the JRA and are looking forward to seeing everyone we met last year. I’m sure most of you saw the footage from Tokyo last week, and the crowds of fans have to be seen to be believed, it’s an incredible experience.
It’s obviously a dream come true for us to be able to travel the world riding on some of the most competitive circuits going, and to be able to experience it together makes it all the more special!
We’ll keep you updated on social media with our booked rides and results from each place we head to, and hopefully, we’ll be able to show you some of the cool things we manage to get up to whilst on our travels!
