Japan So Far!

It was a long journey over here but we were lucky enough to arrive a few days prior to our first day race riding so we could sort out all the necessities before the Saturday.

Hollie and I were both riding at Tokyo on our first weekend and I was lucky enough to get a winner on the Saturday for Northern Farms aboard Catalus Felis for trainer Mr Ebina which was a great start(also getting presented with a Turfy for my first Japanese winner!). On the Sunday thankfully I had some more luck and managed to bag a winner for Godolphin aboard Noisy Approach for Mr Tezuka which topped off the weekend. Sadly Hollie didn’t have any winners, but a few near misses with some of her rides running really well. She then headed to the Breeders’ Cup Monday night and left me on my own to explore Tokyo trying all the different food and seeing the sights around the city!

We have both been made to feel very welcome here and have had some great people looking after us pointing us in the right direction which has made life extremely easy so far! It’s been a big change in pace of for both us with trackwork Wednesday and Thursday, then racing Saturday and Sunday, and for as much as we are both here to try to ride lots of winners, it’s been wonderful getting a chance to have days together each week to be able to see new things.

The weekend just gone by was busy with 6 rides on Saturday, and 8 Sunday, thankfully yielding a winner once again for Northern Farm aboard Shaman’s Cave trained by Mr Ozeki.

Hollie’s back from America for the racing this week, so we’ve both got our fingers crossed that we can both have some winners and make it a successful weekend’s racing!
