An update from Japan

Obviously been a pretty exciting time in Japan, been a real good start now on nine winners and so getting some really good support on the last couple weekends, I’ve been having roughly eighteen/ nineteen rides over the two days which have been fantastic.

Hollie and I have managed to get away for a day and a half last week to go up to the Hachinohe Onsen, which is like hot springs spa place, which is really nice and beautiful part of Japan, about an hour an a half out of Tokyo. This week we went up to Hokkaido to see Northern Farm and Shadai stallions, obviously that was an eye opener to see an operation of that size and that was a real honor getting to go up there and meet Mr Yoshida because he is a busy man with alot on his plate.

This weekend was the Japan Cup and it was a great run from Daring Tact all be it very unlucky to have the door shut on us late, when we were starting to finish off which was a bit frustrating, but a super run and great to have gone so close in one of the world biggest Group 1’s! I think the next major Group 1 that I will be riding in here will be the Arima Kinen and I have quite a nice ride again which is great!

In the meantime busy this weekend and then flying to Hong Kong on Monday with Holly, IJC on Wednesday flying back for the racing on Saturday & Sunday here so plenty going on and really exciting times in Japan still and getting to know the place and we’re both loving it!
