Hong Kong IJC

It was a huge opportunity to go back to compete in the Hong Kong IJC with Hollie this week and we are hugely grateful to the Hong Kong Jockey Club for putting on what is an incredible event to be a part of and always hugely successful evening.

It was a great card of racing and to compete on that level is pretty amazing, to go by yourself let alone with each other is a really special opportunity. It turned out to be an epic evening, drawing as winner of a competition like that alongside someone like Silvestre De Sousa is the stuff of dreams. Thankfully covid restrictions have started to relax, so this year we had a crowd there and it really made for the full experience compared to the last couple of years without the passionate racing fans of Hong Kong!

We have already made our way back to Japan and have three weeks left of riding with our last day being on Christmas Day! I have managed to pick up a good ride in the Arima Kinen on a horse called Justin Palace which is a huge opportunity to try to land one of the biggest Group 1’s in Japan.

It’s a big push to the end of the stint here with a couple of really exciting weeks ahead and we will be flying back after our last day riding in Japan on Christmas Day to Qatar where there is racing at the end of December before returning back to the UK.

We both feel extremely lucky to be able to travel and ride together in such incredible countries, and no doubt building some special memories we will be able to look back on in the years to come!
