Looking ahead to British Champion Day
A massive weekend is coming up with British Champions Day on Saturday with some good rides!
Unequal Love ran a really solid race in the Haydock Sprint Cup and is now coming back into Group 1 company again - looking forward to riding her. .
Sea Theme ran big in France on Arc weekend in the Prix de Royallieu - she wasn't beaten too far, likes soft ground and hopefully she can take the two weeks back up well.
Dancing Gemini was sixth in English Derby and has had two runs since but hopefully he can bounce back being back to a mile.
I also ride Elnajmm in the Balmoral - he looked like he was on a progressive route earlier in the season winning his first two starts and then two below-par results since, but hopefully he can get back on that upper curve.
The headline has to be Economics - he was absolutely exceptional in Ireland and shows a real will to win which I have not felt on too many horses. He has an extreme amount of class and i am really excited to ride him. He looks great back at home and Ricky has been really happy with him, as have the rest of the team. It's a big day in the saddle but it's also a huge day for Somerville Lodge too and I am really looking forward to being part of it and hopefully for Sheikh Isa Salman Al Khalifa we can pull it off again. The big question mark is the ground but we really hope he can prove how versatile he is and show he is just as effective on soft ground as he is on good-good to firm.
Winter plans
Breeders Cup is shaping up well with a busy time - I am really looking forward to going over again, and to partner up with Big Evs and Big Mojo. I am hoping Porta Fortuna is also on the list. By the sounds of things I may be aboard The Wako Kid and there is a possibility Celandine going for the Fillies Juvenile Turf Mile, so looking forward to that.
Heading on to Japan, where Hollie & I will start riding on the 9th November to the 22nd. It is amazing to be going back there and is a trip we absolutely love and thankfully have had a couple of winners over the last couple of years.
After that, we will return back and decide plans for the New Year.
It has been a fantastic year with 127 winners so far 5 Group 1s - hopefully it can now continue on into the winter!
