Japanese Racing
It’s been great to be back in Japan and have had a good start with seven winners on the board already. I had one on the first weekend, 4 the following weekend and 2 over Japan Cup weekend. It was a very special win for the Japanese fans with Do Duece and Yutaka Take taking the race win, but like any racing fan, seeing the scenes with Auguste Rodin after his last ever run was extremely special being by Deep Impact. It just sums up Japanese racing and their respect for the horse, which is one of the many things Hollie & I really enjoy about Japanese racing.
Looking forward to what will hopefully be a busy few weeks ahead now at Nakayama for the next few weeks, as the meetings have moved away from Tokyo after the Japan Cup is over. Its a bit of a different track - tighter, and one you have to ride a bit more aggressive. I had a bit of luck there yesterday so I'm hoping for the same.
Ill be heading to Hong Kong - sadly I am not riding in the IJC but Hollie is. I will however be riding Dubai Honour on Sunday so looking forward to that - he is a cracking horse. He was a little bit unlucky in his lead up run into the race but it should set up nicely on the day. He has run very well in Hong Kong before so hopefully he can go again. He is going to go to the Hong Kong Vase so a new trip in Hong Kong for him as he has always run over a mile quarter so will be interesting to see him at a mile and a half.
We have had a licence extension for the first 2 weeks in January so we are going on a short holiday in the gap of no racing over Christmas. We will be staying in Japan until 13th January so that's an extra 5 meetings to ride so hopefully it will be worthwhile with some more winners. After this we will head back home and make some more plans for the New Year!
