10 Years Since My First Win

Earlier today a memory came up on my Facebook, and it is 10 years to the day since I rode my first winner aboard Mecado at Kempton for Richard Hannon which is crazy, time has flown by!

One of my biggest goals since I started riding professionally was to have 100 winners each year, I think I have hit 1200 wins in the UK now, so I am doing well hitting that target! The thing that has been the most pleasing is the Group 1 and Grade 1 winners, it has been an amazing journey up until now and I am really looking forward for what is to come with some exciting horses for next season!

Ten years ago, Hollie and I were very young and since then we have been married, moved in together, brought a house together, it has been pretty amazing to be honest, I think its time to pinch myself!

The countdown is on to Christmas, with a big weekend ahead of us with the biggest Group 1 in Japan, the Arima Kinen. I am riding Rousham Park, who very narrowly missed out at the Breeders Cup, being beat by Rebel Romance. I’ve got the Japan Cup hero Do Deuce to beat amongst a few others but hopefully I can get him relaxed and he can finish off with the power-pack finish that he did in America!

Our first Japanese racing license will be ending soon and our next one begins a few weeks later, so Hollie and I are taking the opportunity to get a well deserved break in and to have some down time together. It is the first time we have had a proper break since before I went to Australia which was February last year! We are both really looking forward to chill out together and have some time away from racing which is important.

I want to thank everyone for your support towards Hollie and I this year, we are looking forward to seeing you all in the New Year once we are back!

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and the best of luck in 2025!
