Royal Ascot - still to come…

Thursday starts with the 2yr olds once again, I’ll be aboard Blinky who got his head in front at Leicester on his latest start and looks to have sharpened up for that effort on his home work! The horse on Tuesday that also sticks out is then Gilded Water who will then be carrying The Royal silks and remains a highly exciting horse after winning decisively at Chepstow, it’s always a special honour to be walking out wearing the The Royal colours.

Fridays rides include our Gimcrack winner Lake Forest who takes his chance in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup, it’s his first run of this year but has his ground and what we believe to be his optimum trip so hopefully he can get his 3 year old campaign off to the perfect start!

Porta Fortuna takes up her entry in the Coronation after her super run in the 1000 Guineas, she proved she stayed the mile that day and hopefully can back up that huge run.

Hard To Resist is another runner to be carrying the Royal Silks, having her first run of the year as well, we are hoping she will take to the fast ground ok and can show well!

My final ride of the day is aboard the ever progressive Woodhay Wonder, she’s been a superstar for the yard so far and has picked up nearly £220,000 in prizemoney for connections already! She should love the ground and trip so everything looks perfect for her to have every possible chance.

Saturday begins with the newly purchased Pentle Bay from the London Sale on the eve of Royal Ascot, a winner of his sole start at Leicester he looks like he has plenty of potential and can get his head in front for his new owners Teme Valley and Ciaron Maher.

Next up is Desert Hero, our Royal winner from Ascot 2023. In what looks like an extremely competitive renewal of the race, we are really hopeful of a repeat of last years scenes from this extremely tough and likeable horse!

Approval looks to take his chance after winning so impressively 2 weeks ago at Windsor for Highclere racing, he’ll have to step up massively once again but is more than qualified to take his chance and hopefully can give his big group of owners something to cheer for!

Hopefully the final few days can provide a winner or two, with several horses running super races so far including Maljoom, Doom and Big Evs, it’s been a week that has started well enough without any horses getting their head in front just yet, but hopefully our luck will change!
